Still on the fence about the writer/agent workshop and stuck in 2 page a day rut. Perhaps sleep might clear a path to a decision.

Power Naps, that’s the ticket, my friend.
what cha need is to get out and have some fun…..THEN get to work…….it will all just flow then….
hmmm. maybe that’s a good point. fun…hmmm.
Maybe you need to change your strategy. I don’t really know how these things work, so maybe I’m completely off base. But I assume you have a good outline for Velocity? Isn’t that enough? Because I would think it’s in your best interest to not rush through the book. Chances are, you’ll be unhappy with the results and I think that will hurt your sales pitch. I say, focus on the pitch! But above all, go in with CONFIDENCE!!! Btw – when is this workshop?
Afterstumbling through a book with no plan, which was an utter nightmare, I wrote and outline for Velocity, then revised. After about 2 weeks of staring at the outline and demanding/forcing people for comments, I moved to index cards. There’s one index card for every scene, and each one relates back to the outline. Only then did the writing start. The outline and the index cards never leave the work area. In the thick of the process, sometimes an idea for another scene hits me – so I’ll add another card to the pile. If there’s any doubts about a scene, I refer back to the outline and the cards and resolve any disconnects, revising/cutting as necessary. Yes pollster, this is very time consuming. But I’ll throw those 30,000 words down anytime, anyplace without hesitation. The doubts aren’t about what’s on the page. My doubts are about completing the manuscript by June 2005 – the date of the workshop. What is done? Somewhere between 90,000 and 100,000 words. Might be less, might be more. Based on the relationship between number of cards and the length of finished scenes so far, that’s my estimate. Take the average output thus far, I’ll be a fair bit short by June. Since everyone but me says GO GO GO GO, maybe I should…er…um….go. When/If the question of when the book might be finished arises, I’ll handle it.
Well in case I was less than clear before, I also say GO GO GO! Finished, unfinished, whatever – just GO. What could you possibly have to lose?
